If you are a fan of Korean Skincare products, you might be no stranger to The Body Shop Brand. It must say that many people around the world love the Body Shop’s Tea Tree collection, including cleansers, tea tree oil, acne spots, etc. Today we will review The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Toner, one of the famous Tea Tree collection from this brand.

About the The Body Shop

The Body Shop is a well-known body and skincare cosmetics brand. For those of you who are interested in beauty, especially skincare, at least know the company. Famous for opposing cosmetic experiments on animals. And the products are considered to be from nature, so it is obvious to have the trust of many consumers worldwide. Indeed, because of the two factors above, I decided to buy The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Toner product.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Toner or also called skin-balancing water has the well-know ingredients with tea tree extract. Unlike other standard toners that will have many nutrients to moisturize, hydrate, etc., this tea tree toner has the function of helping to clean the skin, reduce inflammatory acne spots, redness, and control oil.

Ingredients include: Water, Alcohol Denat., Corn Starch Modified, Caprylyl Glycol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Glycerin, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Allantoin, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil, Limonene, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, t-Butyl Alcohol, Citral, Leptospermum Petersonii (Lemon Tea Tree) Oil, Denatonium Benzoate, Tocopherol, Caramel, Yellow 5, Blue 1.

It can be mentioned that the ingredient of cornstarch in this toner helps to control oil, and the main ingredient – Tea tree, which can be antibacterial acne.

How to use The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner?

Shake the bottle well so that the cornstarch usually deposited at the bottom is evenly dissolved; take an appropriate amount to remove makeup and gently apply to the skin. If you are new to tea tree, it may feel hot at first, but don’t worry, after applying the toner, your skin will feel cool again after using it; the next time you use it, it won’t feel hot anymore.

As a skin balancer, its form is water; the water is light green, absorbs quickly on the skin, leaving a slightly hissing layer after the skin dries.

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Mattifying Toner is separated into two parts; the lower part is the ivory-white layer of cornstarch underneath. The rest is the green toner; I usually shake the bottle well to mix the two pieces before using it.

Fragrant

The scent I find is more like wind oil than tea tree; when used on the skin, the smell is powerful. However, the smell will go away after about 10-20 seconds.

Feeling on the skin when using

The first time I used it, my skin felt a burning sensation for about 10 seconds, a few times after using it too. After a period of use, my skin still feels a bit clammy after each use; so far, it is much better than the original. But, still, I wouldn’t say I like this feeling very much.

Effects on my skin

The bottle opener design is quite convenient with the cool green bottle. Because the toner contains cornstarch to help absorb oil in the pores, when you need to use a toner to control oil a lot, just shake the bottle gently and take the amount as usual. In addition to oily skin, you can feel that the tea tree ingredient in the toner also soothes the swollen acne. After using the skin toner, you can go with the following steps such as sunscreen (daytime) or moisturizer (nighttime); after this toner dries, it leaves the skin feeling relaxed and comfortable.

Some note

  • The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Toner is suitable for healthy skin, combination skin, and oily skin. Not ideal for sensitive skin or soft skin under treatment.
  • There are some cases when using this product; the skin is burning. With this situation, there are two cases. One is the stinging sensation which is when the acids act on the skin’s surface; this is entirely normal if the painful sensation only occurs for the first few seconds of using the product. And the second case is not suitable for skin irritation – you should stop using it immediately.
  • For those of you with dry skin, I recommend that you moisturize it thoroughly to avoid drying or irritation if you want to use this product.
